Mold Testing
Oftentimes, restoration/remediation services will perform a precautionary air quality test before beginning a restoration project for water damage to determine if unsafe levels of mold are present. If the test shows high levels, then remediation procedures are added to their action plan.
After a mold remediation service cleans out all biohazards in a building, but before occupants re-enter the premises, it is advisable to have a third-party post-remediation verification (PRV) air test conducted. Many remediation services like ECOS will perform their own test to ensure the job has been completed successfully. However, hiring someone who has no vested interest in the outcome, such as an independent licensed Industrial Hygienist, will ensure your property has a safe and healthful environment.
Third-party testing is highly advisable also because it may protect the property owner from any litigious actions that could arise later; this also protects you the property owner if questions arise later about the test results.
